The idea: Have fun and raise money to provide hot, nutritious meals for homebound senior adults in need . . . all at the same time!
The background: Edible Evenings is a grassroots fundraising campaign for Meals-on-Wheels, a program of Senior Services, Inc. Since 2003, people of all ages and backgrounds have joined together with friends, families, club and church members to host Edible Evenings fundraisers. Every dollar raised goes directly to provide food for seniors in need.
The way it works: You bring people together for any occasion you choose and provide the usual food, music and merriment.
In return, your guests bring a donation for Meals-on-Wheels. You can suggest an amount or let your guests decide how much to give. It’s all up to you!
The goal: To raise $80,000 by July 2011 to help Meals-on-Wheels meet the growing demands for its services. More than 1,370 people in Forsyth County receive Meals-on-Wheels or related food supplements from Senior Services. Gifts from Edible Evenings events help make this possible.
Help Meals-on-Wheels achieve this $80,000 goal by adding your event to the Edible Evenings calendar. It’s for a great cause. In most circumstances it is tax-deductible*. And everybody has a wonderful time!
* If your out-of-pocket expense is more than $25 per guest, please call Meals-on-Wheels.
